All upscaling happens directly in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images are never uploaded to any server — even the AI models will run locally on your device.

What is image upscaling?

Image upscaling (also called image enlargement or super-resolution) increases the pixel dimensions of an image while attempting to preserve or enhance visual quality. Unlike simple stretching, our upscaler uses high-quality Lanczos interpolation combined with an unsharp mask filter to produce crisp, detailed results at 2x or 4x the original resolution.

When to upscale images

Upscale images for large-format printing (posters, banners, photo books), social media profile pictures that need higher resolution, restoring old or small photos, or creating high-DPI assets for Retina/HiDPI displays. Going from 1080p to 4K? Use our 2x upscaler.

Standard vs AI Enhanced

The Standard mode uses your browser's native high-quality image scaling with additional sharpening — it's fast, works offline, and produces excellent results for most use cases. AI Enhanced mode (coming soon) will use neural network models via TensorFlow.js running entirely in your browser for state-of-the-art super-resolution results.
